Why we built TeeUp

Before TeeUp, I was a plumber. Then I became a roofer.
I worked hard and learned a lot from both, but there was always a part of me that felt like I was meant to do something more. For years, I was constantly searching for a business idea I could genuinely be passionate about and build into something of my own.
I’ve always been that way. Whether it was guitar, piano, drums, basketball, footy or eventually golf, I’ve always become obsessed with whatever I was interested in.
Then I found golf.
And through golf, I noticed a problem that went beyond the game itself.
Making new friends as an adult is hard.
After high school, life changes. People get jobs, relationships, have kids, move away and naturally lose touch. Yet we’re somehow expected to keep meeting new people and building genuine friendships as adults.
I kept thinking, how are we actually supposed to connect with people in the real world?
That’s where TeeUp came from.
Everyone says a successful business starts by finding a problem and creating a solution. I realised that golf was the perfect way to solve a much bigger problem: connecting people.
There are thousands of golfers who want to play more, meet new people, find a regular group or simply find someone who’s free for a round. TeeUp was built to make those connections easier.
Over the past year, what started as an idea has grown into a community of golfers across Australia. We’ve seen people who had never met before connect through TeeUp, play rounds together, create groups, organise golf trips and become genuine mates.
That’s what makes it all worth it for me.
TeeUp isn’t just about building an app. It’s about bringing people together with something they already love.
I spent years searching for the thing I was meant to build.
I think I finally found it.
And we’re only just getting started.
